Airport Division

Cobb County International Airport (CCIA) is a major general aviation reliever airport for Hartsfield-Jackson Airport owned and operated by Cobb County. CCIA plays an important role in the mobility of people, goods and services and supports a wide variety of activities, including healthcare/emergency services, tourism, commerce, and recreation.

Aviation & Recreation Services

While CCIA does not service major commercial airlines, the airport services several aircraft charter companies and a major fixed-based operator, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services. Through these third-party tenants, the airport provides a variety of services, including:

  • Aircraft storage
  • Fueling
  • Private charters
  • Rentals (aircraft and cars)
  • Flight school
  • Avionics repair/sales
  • Sightseeing tours
  • Aircraft maintenance
  • Aircraft washing & detailing
  • Dining (Elevation Chophouse & Skybar)

Emergency Services

CCIA accommodates multiple emergency response teams, playing a critical public service role for Cobb County citizens. Aviation emergency service teams operating out of CCIA include:

  • Air Methods (medical air transport)
  • Angel Flight (air ambulance)
  • Civil Air Patrol (search & rescue/disaster relief)

The Georgia State Patrol also operates a unit out of CCIA.

U.S. Customs

With the arrival of the first international flight from Nassau, Bahamas on June 25, 2015, CCIA became the first Atlanta area general aviation airport to offer a special built, on-site U.S. customs inspection facility. The 2,800-square-foot facility is available to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers 24 hours a day. International flights can clear customs through a quick and reliable service point at the site of their landing at CCIA rather than stopping for customs elsewhere first. This saves money and time, increases productivity and makes Cobb County businesses far more competitive in the global marketplace.

Weather Services

CCIA is equipped with an official Automated Weather Observation Station (AWOS). Strategically placed sophisticated automated sensors at CCIA monitor wind speed and direction, visibility, precipitation, cloud coverage, temperature, barometric pressure and dew points to further aid in safe and efficient aviation operations, weather forecasting and climatology. The current airport weather can be obtained by calling (770) 425-3406 or monitoring 128.125 MHz.

County Staff

Cobb County has a small staff of employees working on site that oversee development, operations, and contract/lease compliance of 25 aviation-related businesses and provide maintenance services for airport equipment and facilities.
