Government Service Centers

Two convenient Government Service Centers exist to bring service closer to county residents. The South Cobb Center offers an innovative Business Office to allow the county's customers to transact business or receive information about services. Both centers also contain full service Tag Offices.

General Information

Where can I get a non-privileged Cobb County business license?

Non-privileged Cobb County Business License applications are available at the South Cobb Business Office, in addition to the main Business License Office at 1150 Powder Springs St., Suite 400, Marietta, Ga. 30064. Privileged business licenses applications are available only at the main Business License office.

Applicants with business addresses inside the city limits of the Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna should contact their respective city government business license offices.

I need to get a document notarized. Where can I get this done?

The South Cobb Government Service Center Business Office has Notary Publics on staff. There is no charge for this service.

Where can I get an emission waiver?

Emission waivers for students are available in Cobb County at the Georgia Clean Air Force, 2141 Kingston Ct., Marietta, GA. Senior citizen emission waivers are available at tag offices. For further information call (800) 449-2471 or, log on to cleanairforce.com for details.

What types of printed materials are available at the South Cobb Government Service Center Business Office?

The Business Office receives numerous up-to-date brochures and printed materials relating to Cobb County. Some of the more frequently requested publications are Tag Facts, Tax Facts, Extension Service brochures; voter registration applications; absentee ballot requests; business license brochures; library information. Information included in some brochures is also available online.

Where can I get income tax forms?

The South Cobb Business Office has standard Federal and State forms available after January 1. Many reproducible forms are also available throughout the year.

How do I file a Homestead Exemption?

If you own, occupy and claim your home as your legal residence on January 1st, you are eligible for a Homestead Exemption. Additional exemptions are available to those who meet legal criteria.

You may apply for exemptions year-round with the Tax Commissioner’s Office, however your application must be received or postmarked by April 1st to receive the exemption for that tax year. Applications not filed by the deadline constitute a waiver of the exemption for that year.

Reserve a Meeting Room

Meeting rooms at both Government Service Center locations are available for use from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily except Sundays and holidays.

How to Reserve a Meeting Room

  1. Create an account on CivicRec. Be sure to include your email address.
  2. Find the Government Service Center meeting rooms on the Facilities list, then click on the calendar to see if the date you’re interested in is available. If available, fill in your meeting request information. Be sure to include time for set up, clean up and return of furnishings to the standard configuration of the room.
  3. Your reservation request will be reviewed and verified by county staff, and you will receive an email confirmation within two business days. Remember, your reservation is not confirmed until you have received notification.
  4. Once you receive your confirmation, follow the link to retrieve your reservation and pay the fee to reserve the room. Acceptable forms of payment are credit card and debit card.

    Your payment of $25.00 must be received within two business days of your confirmation. A reservation will not be considered confirmed until full payment has been received and the Meeting Room Agreement has been fully executed online by the county’s representative and the reserving party.

    Once payment is received, an entry code to access the meeting room on the date of your event will be emailed to you.
  5. On the day of rental, you will need to sign in on the posted sheet at the facility, indicating arrival time, number of participants, departure time and verifying room was clean and in order prior to and after completion of the event. Failure to comply may result in denial of future rental. Drop the form in the drop box just outside the room.

NOTE: Room fees are only refundable if event is cancelled 14 days or more prior to the event. Any qualifying refund will be issued by check from Cobb County. The county reserves the right to cancel or deny the reservation for reasons listed in the Meeting Agreement. Please allow 30 days for refunds.

Prohibited activities for room rentals

  • Unlawful events of any type;
  • A charge for admission or similar condition of admission;
  • Solicitation of sales, sales offers, or other means of revenue generation;
  • Solicitation of donation, except for recognizable charities, community or civic groups or events;
  • Gambling or games of chance;
  • Birthday parties, wedding/baby showers or similar events;
  • Any other activity so deemed by the county.
