Emory University De Roode Lab

The De Roode Lab at Emory University studies monarch butterflies and their parasites. As our office and demonstration gardens are within the monarch migration pathway, we are typically visited by numerous monarchs each spring and fall as they travel through Georgia. That makes our facility a good site for data collection.

Our friends from De Roode Lab have three milkweed plots at Cobb’s Water Quality Laboratory to supplement their research. Students and staff from Emory maintain these plots, observing the plants and the community of insects using the milkweed.

In addition to educating our staff about their research, the De Roode Lab supports our butterfly conservation efforts by sharing materials and resources to enhance our programs.
