Cobb County Water System distributes approximately 55 Million Gallons per day (MGD) of potable water to our customers.  As part of the water distribution system, CCWS maintains 5 water storage facilities throughout the county that hold almost 4 million gallons of water. The water volume is constantly circulated in these storage facilities to ensure clean, safe water is available at adequate flows and pressures within the distribution system for both normal and emergency demands, such as firefighting.

CCWS utilizes two types of storage tanks, elevated storage tanks, and ground storage tanks. The type and placement of water storage facilities are based on the need of the community.  For example, CCWS has installed ground storage tanks on ridgelines to accommodate surrounding development at the higher elevations.  The combined methods serve to ensure all residents of Cobb County have an adequate supply of potable water.
