Congratulations to Raina Banerjee for winning the contest!

Raina Banerjee of Simpson Middle School was the Cobb County finalist in the 22nd annual Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Middle School Essay Contest!

The Metro Water District’s Essay Contest challenges middle school students to think critically about our region’s water resources and raises awareness for conservation and preservation of water quality and quantity in metro Atlanta. This year’s contest asked students to write a 300–500-word essay on one of two topics. Students could either research the river basin where they live and write about what makes their river basin important to them and their community, or they could choose to write about the importance of water resources in Georgia.

The contest had over 700 submissions from fifteen different counties within the metro-Atlanta region. Raina Banerjee, of Simpson Middle School, was selected as Cobb County’s finalist and was recognized for her achievement on the Simpson Middle School morning news on December 18th.
