Annual Household Waste (HHW) Event

Keep Cobb Beautiful hosts an Annual Household Waste (HHW) Event will take these items for FREE from Cobb County residents (*there are limits, where noted).  Early arrival is recommended.

Acceptable Items

  • Adhesives

  • Batteries
  • Cleaners and Swimming Pool Chemicals
  • Cooking Oil
  • Flammables
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • Hobby and Artist's Supplies
  • Lawn Care Products
  • Mercury
  • Photo Chemicals
  • Paint and Paint-Related Products
    • *Only 10 (ten) gallons of paint per vehicle will be accepted.  Please do not add kitty litter.

Items not Accepted

  • Ammunition
  • Agricultural Waste
  • Biohazardous/Biomedical Waste
  • Radioactive Materials

Biannual Community Recycling Event

Community Recycling Event

Twice a year (spring and fall) Keep Cobb Beautiful hosts a FREE Community Recycling Event for Cobb County residents (but there are limits, where noted*).  Early arrival is recommended.

ELECTRONICS

Computers, cell phones, printers, circuit boards, hard drive, gaming systems, VCRs, keyboards, flat screen televisions, flat screen monitors, fax machines, etc. 

*There is a fee of $10 for each CRT TV and CRT monitor - cash only*

HOUSEHOLD TEXTILES

Gently used shoes and tennis shoes, clothing, purses, blankets, decorative pillows, stuffed toys, sheets, towels, books, functional hard plastic toys and functional car seats/booster seats with liners and restraints intact. 

*NO flip flops, rugs, mattresses, bed pillows or carpeting*

PAPER SHREDDING

Protect against identity theft by having documents shredded securely on-site by a licensed, bonded and locally-owned shredding company.  Medical bills, bank and credit card statements, checks, and documents that contain personal or sensitive information.  Please remove all paper clips and binder clips. 

* Limit of 10 banker boxes or ten 13 gallon trash bags per vehicle. 

*NO file folders, glossy paper, magazines, junk mail, periodicals, newspaper, CDs, DVDs, binders or books*

Aluminum Cans

Aluminum Cans may be dropped off at no charge.

Please dump the cans out of any bags or boxes that you may have it stored in.  Foil and TV dinner trays type materials are all accepted.  Cobb county does NOT pay for aluminum cans.

Let the scale operator know that you are bringing electronics to recycle.  You will be directed to a specific area on the tipping floor where you may leave the electronics. There is a *nominal fee of $7.00 for any amount under 400 pounds.  Televisions will not be recycled and are subject to regular tipping floor fees. 

Glass

Glass containers (such as wine bottles, beer bottles, etc.) are acceptable at no charge.

The rule of thumb is:  If it is a container with a cap, it is recyclable. 

Do not recycle other glass products such as table tops, window panes, headlights, light bulbs, drinking glasses, etc.   These items contain additives that make the glass unsuitable for recycling.  These items can be taken down the street to Advanced Disposal Services located at 1897 County Services Parkway.

Paper Products

Paper Products may be dropped off at no charge.

Paper products, such as newspapers, magazines, office paper, and cardboard (example: cereal boxes, etc.) may all be recycled in one container.   There are separate bins for corrugated cardboard boxes.  

Plastic Containers

Plastic containers (such as water bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc.) accepted at no charge.

Plastics containers are acceptable.  The rule of thumb is:  If it is a container with a cap, it is recyclable. 

Do not recycle other plastic products such as bubble wrap, polystyrene (also known as Styrofoam),  hard plastic items (such as laundry baskets, plastic shoe boxes, trash cans, etc.) are not acceptable.  These items can be taken down the street to Advanced Disposal Services located at 1897 County Services Parkway.   

Steel and Other Metal Cans

Steel and metal cans may be dropped off at no charge.

Steel, commonly called "tin" cans are acceptable.  It is not necessary to remove paper labels or to flatten the cans.
