Name: Star
Gender: Female
Size/Weight: 37 lbs.
Age: 10 years old

Medical info: vaccinations up to date, dental disease, cataracts, arthritis & heartworm positive (Doxy-has had one injection)

ID#: 640958

Eligible for Rescue: Now

Specifics: This beautiful black lab mix is Star! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl on 11/19 and sadly, no one has come to reclaim her. Star doesn't deserve the hand she's been dealt and is really hoping for a Christmas miracle!

It doesn't seem she has been cared for very well lately or maybe she's been out on her own for a while. Poor girl has dental disease, cataracts, and arthritis.

Star has a hard time getting up and down (especially on the slick floors here) and seems stiff in all 4 limbs - musculoskeletal weakness and possible arthritis. Shelters with concrete floors are hard on seniors.  Star is on pain meds to help while she is here though. She will need further care at a regular vet to make sure she stays comfortable. She also has typical senior issues – cataracts and dental disease. Star is underweight and not eating much, but likes canned food.

Star is the sweetest soul and she still has some pep in her step. She also loves treats and will sit so nicely for them! Star is a low key lady and really just needs a comfy bed, endless treats, and a loving home where she spend the rest of her days. Could you be the angel she is looking for this holiday season?

Star is approximately 10 years old and weighs 37 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines. Star did test positive for heartworms, but with the proper treatment, she can go on to live happily!

Shelter arrival date: 12/03/2022

Name: N/A
Gender: Intact female
Size/Weight: N/A
Age: 3 years old

Medical info: inflamed corneas, combo negative, exam notes below

ID#: 641164

Eligible for Rescue: 12/14/2022

Specifics:

This pretty girl came to the shelter as a stray 12/3. She is a 3yr, intact, calico. She has inflamed corneas and she can’t see well right now. They are probably painful too. Because she can’t see very well, she was startled by someone cleaning her cage and bit them. We think she did that because she was scared, not out of aggression. She is now on a 10 day bite quarantine, but will be available for rescue 12/14. We would love to have rescue lined up for her then so she can get the medical care her eyes need. She may need to see a specialist. She is combo negative.

Exam 12/5:

Weight 5.75 Check eyes QAR BCS = 5/9. MM = pink and moist. Heart and lungs - clear. Abdomen - soft and nonpainful. Both eyes - blepharospasm and raised 3rd eyelids. Proparacaine didn’t seem to relieve blepharospasm. Visible area of cornea ( dorsal and lateral areas.) hazy and some neovascularization also dense white opacity around the prihery (at limbus) Nystagmus. PLR`s - WNL. Difficult to assess menace due to blepharospasm.

Cream color female dog on a blue leash

Shelter arrival date: 12/06/2022

Name: Bo Peep
Gender: Intact female
Size/Weight: 55 lbs.
Age: 2 years old

Medical info: heartworm negative, unknown cause of weight loss

ID#: 641207

Eligible for Rescue: ASAP

Specifics:

Bo Peep was surrendered by her owner 12/6. She was turned in because she had an unknown cause of weight loss. They did take her to a vet in October, but I’m assuming she did not improve.

Bo Peep’s owner reported she is good with kids, dogs, and cats. She may not be housebroken because she lived outside in the yard. She weighs 55lbs and her abdomen does look distended. Our vet did an exam, She has a very poor BCS – 1/9. She is very thin so her stomach looks even more distended than it would if the body condition scale was normal. There was nothing significant seen in the bloodwork from October. The bloodwork is available if your vet would like to see it. The previous vet heard a heart murmur, but ours did not. The heart sounds were muffled though, along with decreased breath sounds over dorsal and caudal lung fields. Bo needs more work up – more diagnostics. She probably needs an x-ray and ultrasound. Our x-ray machine is down, so unfortunately that is not an option here. She needs rescue ASAP so whatever is going on can be found and taken care of. She is only 2yrs old, very sweet, and heartworm negative.
