Compensation

Salary

$32,014.98 - $51,224.17

Education Incentive Pay: 

  • $1,000 Associate Degree
  • $2,000 Bachelor's Degree

Free Wellness Clinic

A free health clinic is available for all full time Cobb County Employees and their insured dependents with one of the County's health plans. The clinic offers sick and well checks and many prescription medications at no cost to the employee.

All uniforms and job-related equipment are provided by the Cobb County Animal Services at no cost to you.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is available for you while you complete a college degree or certification. Reimbursable amounts are dependent upon available funding and will be proportionately distributed to all pre-approved applicants on a quarterly basis.

Multiple fitness centers with both strength and aerobic training equipment available at no-cost to employees.

Paid Vacation Leave

  • 13 days per year / Entry Level Employees with less than 5 years
  • 15 days per year / Employees with 5 years

Hiring Process

The hiring process for the Cobb County Animal Services generally takes one to two months and includes the following steps:

  • Online application
  • Criminal history check
  • Driver's history (MVR) check
  • Reference check
  • Medical examination with drug screen
  • Oral interview with Animal Services Commander

Training

On the job training includes:

  • Kennel: Training along side a senior officer/Field Training Officer (FTO) in all kennel operation policies & procedures
  • Road: Training along side a FTO in all road service polices & procedures.

Advanced Training

Opportunities include:

  • National Animal Control & Humane Officer (NACHO)
  • Southeastern Animal Control Association (SACA)
  • Georgia Animal Control Association (GACA)

Also available: Various conferences and symposiums with local, state, federal, non-profit & private organizations.
