Monday, July 17th After nearly 20 years serving the Cobb County Accountability Courts, attorney Grady Moore, was honored by Cobb Superior Court Judges and Senior Judges with a plaque to commemorate his service to the accountability courts during the graduation ceremony of the Cobb Drug Treatment (DTC) Court.  Grady Moore was part of the original drug court team and served DTC as the prosecutor for ten years at which time he became public defender and remained in that role until this year. “It has been an honor to work with Cobb County Accountability Courts for nearly 20 years. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best judges, lawyers, administrators, and treatment providers in the state to make a real difference in many people’s lives.” Moore said.

Cobb Superior Court judges in attendance were Judge Robert Leonard, Judge Ann Harris, Judge Kimberly Childs, Senior Judge Adele Grubbs, Senior Judge George Kreeger and Senior Judge Mary Staley.

Cobb Senior Judge Mary Staley said, “Grady was our rock, and he will be missed.” Each of the judges spoke and touted Moore as someone who worked inside and outside the courtroom advocating for and assisting the many participants of the accountability courts to be successful in the programs. Senior Judge George Kreeger, the founder and original judge of Cobb Drug Court, spoke about the value of accountability court programs and how drug courts work to change lives. Grady Moore stated that in his 30 years of law practice, only in the accountability courts has he seen an individual come in living on a path to destruction, and once completing an accountability court, are living a completely changed life. During his tenure, Moore served on the teams of the Drug Treatment Court, Mental Health Court, and Veterans Accountability & Treatment Court.

Grady Moore was celebrated by not only the judges of the accountability courts but also by court staff, friends, family, community members and the many DTC participants in attendance.

Moore is leaving Cobb County Superior Court Accountability Courts to become the Managing Attorney, Alternate Public Defender of the West Georgia Region. In this position, he leads the call to provide indigent defense representation in cases where the Public Defender has a conflict in eight west Georgia counties.
