Sentence alert: Man receives 10 years in prison for trafficking amount of cocaine

(Marietta, GA – July 18, 2023) Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr. announces that Timothy Obrien Crews, 49, pled guilty to one count of trafficking in cocaine, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Judge Henry R. Thompson sentenced Crews to 10 years in prison.
 
On October 8, 2020, Cobb Police were called to a suspicious person at the Lakemont Campground in Cobb County, Georgia. Officers arrived on scene and met with the individual, later identified as Timothy Crews. While speaking with law enforcement, officers observed a large package of suspected controlled substances protruding from Crews’ pants. When confronted, Mr. Crews responded, “these aren’t my pants.” GBI identified the substances to be 55 grams of cocaine, approximately 3 grams methamphetamine and 585 pills of oxycodone.

Assistant District Attorney Amanda Buxton prosecuted the case. Attorney Robert Alexander represented Crews at the plea.
