Presiding Judge Wayne E. Grannis recently administered the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) oath to 9 new volunteers in front of family and friends.

Comprised of caring and committed citizens, the new volunteers completed over 40 hours of training and court observation to become advocates for child victims of abuse and neglect.

The CASA volunteers received their first case assignments immediately after taking the oath. With support and guidance from dedicated CASA staff members, the volunteers will visit the children monthly, gather information, compile reports, and make recommendations, all to ensure that the children’s needs are brought to the court’s attention.

In Cobb County, hundreds of children are waiting for a CASA assignment. More trained volunteers are needed to fill the gap. To learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer, call 770-528-2285 or email CASA@cobbcounty.org.
