Compensation

Salary

$32,014.98 - $51,224.17

Education Incentive Pay: 

  • $1,000 Associates Degree

Free Wellness Clinic

A free health clinic is available for all full time Cobb County Employees and their insured dependents with one of the County's health plans. The clinic offers sick and well checks and many prescription medications at no cost to the employee.

Uniforms and Equipment

All uniforms and job related equipment are provided by the Cobb County Animal Services at no cost to you.

Tuition Assistance

Tuition assistance is available for you while you complete a college degree or certification. Reimbursable amounts are dependent upon available funding and will be proportionately distributed to all pre-approved applicants on a quarterly basis.

Fitness Centers

Fitness centers with both strength and aerobic training equipment are located at the Department of Public Safety Training Center and Powder Springs Station.

Paid Vacation Leave

  • 10 days per year / 1-5 years of service
  • 15 days per year / 6-15 years of service
  • 20 days per year / 15+ years of service

Holidays

10 paid holidays per year

Paid Sick Leave

Accumulates at 4 hours per biweekly

Paid Military Leave

Up to 18 days per year

Hiring Process

The hiring process for the Cobb County Animal Services generally takes between 2 to 6 months and includes the following steps:

  • Online application
  • Written Test
  • Physical Abilities Test
  • Interview with background investigator
  • Comprehensive background investigation to include, but not limited to:
    • Psychological examination
    • Polygraph examination
    • Check of criminal history and driver's history
    • Credit check
    • Employment history
    • References check
  • Medical examination with drug screen
  • Oral Interview with Animal Control Commander

Training

On the job training includes:

  • Kennel: Training along side a senior officer/Field Training Officer (FTO) in all kennel operation policies & procedures
  • Road: Training along side a FTO in all road service polices & procedures.

Advanced Training

Opportunities include:

  • National Animal Control & Humane Officer (NACHO)
  • Southeastern Animal Control Association (SACA)
  • Georgia Animal Control Association (GACA)

Also available: Various conferences and symposiums with local, state, federal, non-profit & private organizations.
