Congratulations to Brody Whitlock

Congratulations to Cobb PARKS' employee Brody Whitlock, who was awarded the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 5 Al Richardson Athletic Award for 2022. Brody accepted the award recently at the GRPA District 5 banquet at the Kennesaw Recreation Center.

The award is presented to the professional who exemplifies excellence in the realm of athletic programming This award is reserved for individuals who have excelled in situations where they are primarily responsible for the supervision or implementation of recreation, parks or leisure services programs.

Brody is a Cobb PARKS' Recreation Coordinator who oversees the Al Bishop Complex and adult athletics division. He coordinates and hosts 35+ events per year including tournaments for softball, baseball, kickball, flag football, national tournaments, company events, special events and more. He manages and supervises 10+ adult athletic leagues annually including adult softball, kickball, flag football, basketball, ultimate frisbee, cornhole, volleyball, and spikeball. More than 350 teams participate in the programs he administers per year. He supervises one full-time employee, 15+ part-time employees, and coordinates with maintenance staff and game officials. He oversees and coordinates the Cobb County youth boys basketball program, including the All-County All-Star and GRPA tournaments.

Brody shows a wonderful passion for parks and recreation and does a great job handling our adult athletics, while also helping out in other areas of the department as needed. Congratulations to Brody Whitlock for this well-deserved award.
