Cobb DOT spent the past few days checking their equipment and configuring their winter weather gear in anticipation of a winter weather system expected to move through the state.  Much of the area to the north and east of Cobb County are under winter weather advisories, and the weather service says the county can expect rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, or a combination throughout the day Sunday.

The exact amount and type of wintry precip remain a bit unclear, so Cobb DOT has scheduled a shift starting Saturday at 6 pm that will be prepared to pre-treat roads and bridges across the county with a brine solution to prevent freezing.

If you can avoid travel after 6 pm Saturday that would be appreciated.

Throughout the day Sunday and into Monday, crews will respond to reports of slippery roads with spreaders and deal with calls like falling trees.

Governor Kemp has issued a State of Emergency that covers Cobb County as the storm approaches.  This will allow resources to flow quicker into areas that need them.
