UPCOMING EVENTS  AROUND COBB

MONDAY, JULY 29

  •  Have you taken a DNA test on Ancestry or 23 and me, or know someone who did? Find out how it's being used to fight crime. Since 2018, nearly 600 murder cases have been solved thanks to genetic genealogy. What exactly is “genetic genealogy” and how is it used to find criminals? Come find out! Presented by The Georgia Room at Switzer Library, Monday, July 29 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. Info here.
     
  • Dig into the world of composting with Keep Cobb Beautiful on Monday, July 29, from noon - 1 p.m. Discover how organic waste transforms into nutrient-rich soil and see how Hyde Farm does it. This event is open to all ages. Please email aaron.chism@cobbcounty.org with any questions. Event is at Hyde Farm Park, 726 Hyde Road, Marietta.

TUESDAY, JULY 30

Get free products, food, resources and services at Cobb and Douglas Public Health Farmers Market and Resource Fairs in July and August. There will be fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs. Markets are open to the entire community.
WIC participants: bring a WIC ID to receive $30 free per eligible WIC participant per season.

Events are 8 a.m. - noon at two locations:

🍎 July 30 and Aug. 13 & 27, at 875 Riverside Parkway, Austell

THURSDAY, AUG. 1

Atlanta Braves / Keep Cobb Beautiful Green Team Event on Aug. 1 - Volunteer to collect recyclables between innings and cheer on the Braves from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.  25 volunteer spots are available.  You must be at least 18 years old to register. Info and registration here.  You can also sign up for the event on  Sept. 5.

TUESDAY, AUG. 6

National Night Out

Join Cobb Public Safety and other county organizations for National Night Out 6 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6. Build a stronger, safer community by fostering connections between our community and Cobb County Public Safety. Let's come together for a night filled with fun, food, and festivities. Bring your family, meet your local public safety personnel, and enjoy a night of unity and positivity. Together, we make our community safer. 

Keep Cobb Beautiful will have a table with information about recycling, giveaways, and the KSU OwlSwap Closet.
Cobb PAL's Step Team will be performing.

Explore exciting programs for kids at this year's 4-H Open House on Aug. 8. Check out clubs and activities including archery, creative arts, public speaking, STEM, cooking, horse and pony activities, competitive teams, agriculture and more.  The extension office is located at 678 South Cobb Drive, Marietta.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 14

You'll get a peaceful, easy feeling at Wine Down Wednesday in August, featuring the ultimate Eagles experience from the tribute band "To the Limit". The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre. Just take it easy and forget life in the fast lane.

SATURDAY, AUG. 17

Walk, jog, or run - in person, or virtual. This event is for all fitness levels. Lace up your shoes at The Battery and support Cobb County first responders. This family-friendly event will include first responder vehicles and displays, field games with The Atlanta Braves' mascot Blooper, and a performance from the Braves' Heavy Hitters.  Info and registration here.
