Some Cobb residents have received scam phone calls or texts stating that they were scheduled for jury duty but failed to show up. The person is then asked to pay a fine or go to jail. The caller/texter then requests the resident purchase gift cards to pay for the fine to avoid arrest. This is a scam.

If you receive this phone call or text, do not fall for it. If you have any questions about the legitimacy of jury duty, contact the Cobb County State Court System directly at 770-528-2628.
