Residents join county boards and authorities

The Board of Commissioners announced the placement of three more residents with county boards and committees on March 23, helping round out citizen participation in Cobb's government.

Chairwoman Lisa Cupid appointed Celeste Harris to the Workforce Development Board for a term-balance to expire in June 2022. This board directs local workforce programs, designating training service providers and uses federal funds.

Commissioner Keli Gambrill appointed Fernando Pharr to the Keep Cobb Beautiful, Inc. commission for a term-balance to expire in December 2022. The KCB commission was established to assist the county and the board of commissioners in establishing, promoting, and maintaining a countywide policy for improved environmental and waste management.

Commissioner JoAnn K. Birrell reappointed Cherie Newton to the Transit System Advisory Board for a two-year term to expire on February 2023. The Transit Advisory Board advises the Board of Commissioners in enhancing public transportation for the county.

The announcements and approval took place during the Board of Commissioners' regular meeting.
