Water System Individual Awards

2020

Jesse LeBoeuf, System Maintenance, has been awarded the Charles H. Jones WEF Service Award by the  Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP).  This award was presented in recognition of an individual's extraordinary service and contributions to the Water Environment Federation and the Georgia Association of Water Professionals.

Calvin Spears, System Maintenance, has been awarded the Top Operators (Top Op) award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP).  A Top Op was presented to a certified operator that has excelled in his/her duties and sets an example for others. Receipt of this award is a high honor.

Shaundon Moore, Watershed Stewardship Programs, was recognized by the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream (AAS) with the Trainer of the Year Award. This award is given to trainers who exemplify leadership and dedication to promoting the program’s goals towards watershed awareness and protection in local communities.

Marvin Richards, Backflow Prevention Program, was inducted to the Georgia Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S).

2019

Kathy Nguyen, Customer Service Division Manager, has been recognized and awarded the Alliance for Water Efficiency Water Star Award.

Michael Kahle,  Watershed Stewardship’s Environmental Programs Supervisor, was recognized by the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream (AAS) with the Trainer of the Year Award. This award is given to trainers who exemplify leadership and dedication to promoting the program’s goals towards watershed awareness and protection in local communities.

Kathy Nguyen, Customer Service Division Manager was presented with the Water Star Award by the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE).  This award was to recognize individual excellence in water efficiency.  

AWE wishes to celebrate the “unsung hero”, the quiet water conservation practitioner working in the trenches who makes a huge difference by their dedication, passion, and progressive approaches to move forward in our field.

Water Star award winners receive this recognition not because they apply for the award, but because their peers around them recognize the value of their significant contribution and achievements over time and their quiet dedication to the cause.

2018

Kathy Nguyen, Customer Service Division Manager, was inaugural member to the Golden Hydrant Society.  The Golden Hydrant Society is an honor society of the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association, that recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the drinking water industry.

Marvin Richards, Backflow Prevention Program Supervisor, was inaugural member to the Golden Hydrant Society.  The Golden Hydrant Society is an honor society of the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association, that recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the drinking water industry.

Chuck Youmans, Stormwater Maintenance Manager, was awarded the President's Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for demonstrating outstanding leadership to build the Association into the organization it is today.

2017

Jennifer McCoy, Watershed Stewardship’s Environmental Programs Coordinator, was presented the 2017 Hugh A. Wycoff Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for demonstrating outstanding service through one or more of the various activities of the Association.

2016

Deantee Monroe won the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Award.  The Customer Service Specialist Award is presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.  

William Jeremy Eaves, System Maintenance Superintendent was awarded the GWEF Golden Manhole Society Award by the GAWP.  This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of Collection System operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as, through service to GWEF and GAWP.

Kathy Nguyen, Sr. Project Manager, Water Efficiency Program,  was awarded by the GAWP the AWWA George Warren Fuller Award.  

2015

Sandra Cranshaw was a 1st Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner 2015.  The Award is presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.  

Dusty L. Jordan, System Maintenance Division, received a "Life-Saving Award" from the Cobb County Fire & Emergency Service Department. On September 22, 2014, a Cobb County Water Department employee was working on a water pipe when a citizen asked if he could hear someone yelling for help. Dusty turned off his equipment and quickly ran into the backyard of the victim where he found an elderly woman completely submerged near the bank of a small lake, clinging to a small branch with only her face breaking the surface of the water. Dusty jumped in the water, freed her from a thicket of bushes and pulled her to safety. Fast recognition and decisive actions saved a life that day.

Ellis Swanson was a 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner 2015.  The Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.  

Amy Warnock, Recipient of the Emerging Leader Award 2015 - Amy Warnock, Water Efficiency Programs Specialist, Water Conservation Program, was awarded the Emerging Leader Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). This award was presented in recognition of a person who has been a member for five years or less for outstanding service to the GAWP.

 

2014

Ryan Coover was the winner of the 2014 Customer Service Specialist of the Year Award!   The Award is presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Mark Folsom was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Mike Kahle was recognized as the New Trainer of the Year 2014 - Mike Kahle, Cobb's environmental programs specialist, was recognized as the New Trainer of the Year by the Georgia EPD. He has conducted 55 workshops, certifying 471 volunteers and was praised for going above and beyond to educate and motivate volunteers.

Jesse LeBoeuf was recognized and inducted into the Golden Manhole Society of the Georgia Water Environment Federation and Georgia Association of Water Professional. This induction is considered a high honor for individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of collection system operation through operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or the certification of collection systems, as well as through service to GWEF and GAWP.

Stephen D. McCullers, Recipient of the Silver Eagle Award - Stephen D. McCullers, Cobb County Water System Director, won the County's management team award Silver Eagle for his leadership among his peers.

Stephen D. McCullers, Recipient of the Golden Goose Leadership Award - Steve D. McCullers, Cobb County Water System Director, was the recipient of the Golden Goose Leadership Award presented by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Chuck Roshak, was the 4th Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  The Award is presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

2013

Jamie Cint was the 1st Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Tim Kelley was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Kim Lucas was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Kathy Nguyen, Recipient of the William J. Greene Award 2013 - Kathy Nguyen, Sr. Project Manager, Water Efficiency Program was the recipient of the 2013 William J. Greene Award presented by Georgia Association of Water Professionals, GAWP.  This award was presented in recognition of her dedication and service, skills, professionalism, and outstanding leadership in support of the GAWP.

Brian Wilson was the 1st Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Troy Norton, System Maintenance Superintendent was awarded the GWEF Golden Manhole Society Award by the GAWP.  This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of Collection System operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as through service to GWEF and GAWP.

Ernest Earn, Recipient of the Alva T. Storey Award 2011 - Ernest Earn, Sr. Contract Project Manager, Engineering & Records Division, was the recipient of the 2011 Alva T. Storey Award presented by Georgia Association of Water Professionals, GAWP. This award was presented in recognition of outstanding service related to activities in support of the Association. This award may be conferred annually upon a member of the Association who has demonstrated voluntary service in the form of Association Leadership and Administration, Membership Recruitment, Technical Contributions, Training, Encouragement and/or Support; a level of service above and beyond the call of duty which exemplifies the essence of GAWP success.

2010

Kimmie Anderson was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Susan Bishop was the 3nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Alicia Giddens, WEF Laboratory Analyst of the Year 2010 - Alicia Giddens, Superintendent, Water Quality Laboratory, was honored with the Laboratory Analyst of the Year by the Water Environment Federation (WEF).

Judy Jones, GAWP's New Vice-President 2010 - Judy Jones, Engineering & Records Division Manager, Engineering & Records Division, has been selected to serve as Vice-President for the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). Judy has been a member of the GAWP since 1995. She served on the Board of Directors and the GWEF Executive Committee from 2000 to 2007 and chaired the membership and building committees for the GAWP. Judy is also a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and Water Environment Federation (WEF) and is actively involved with the WEF's, Long Range Planning, Stockholm Junior Water Prize, and Student, Young Professional, and Membership Committees.

Judy Jones, Engineering & Records Division Manager, Engineering & Records Division, was awarded the 2010 President's Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for demonstrating outstanding leadership to build the Association into the organization it is today.

Judie Mazih, Administration, Business Services, was a winner of the Martha Logue "Excellence in Leadership Award". This award is presented annually to an EXCEL graduate who demonstrates the qualities of leadership, innovation, management ability, and dedication to Cobb County.

Jennifer McCoy, Watershed-Stewardship Program Coordinator, Environmental Compliance, Water Protection Division, was awarded the 2010 Georgia Project WET Facilitator of the Year Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for environmental leadership in promoting water education throughout Georgia.

Cynthia Thompson was the 4th Quarter Customer Service Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Raymon Twymon was the 3nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner. This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

2009

Stacy Dykes was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.   This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Katey Evans was the 4th Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Judy Jones, Charlie Jones Award 2009 - Judy Jones, Engineering & Records Division Manager, Engineering & Records Division, was honored with the 2009 Charlie Jones Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, GAWP. This award was presented in recognition of an individual's extraordinary service and contributions to the Water Environment Federation and the Georgia Association of Water Professionals.

Daniel Machado, ISA Recognition 2009 - Daniel Machado, Process Control Analyst I, Technology Support Group, Water Protection Division, was recognized by the International Society of Automation, ISA. ISA is a global, nonprofit organization that develops standards, certifies industry professionals, provides education/training, and publishes books/technical articles for automation professionals.

Kathy Nguyen, Communicator of the Year Award 2009 - Kathy Nguyen, Sr. Projects Manager, Water Conservation Program, was awarded the 2009 Communicator of the Year Award by the Georgia Green Industry Association, GGIA. This award was presented in recognition of distinguished and unselfish service to the horticulture industry in Georgia.

Richard Richey was the Customer Service Specialist Award Finalist of the Year.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Ken Jacob, Water Protection Division Manager, was awarded the Elizabeth McEntire Award by the GAWP.  

Richard Richey was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Mike Waldon, Golden Wrench Award 2009 - Mike Waldon, Utility Mechanic I, Water Protection Division, was awarded the 2009 Golden Wrench Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. He was recognized as the "Top Tech Maintenance Technologist" in the state. This award is presented annually to a person who exemplifies maintenance professionalism in the water and wastewater industry.

2008

Linda Burke was the Customer Service Specialist Award Finalist of the Year.   This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Glenn Holley was the 4th Quarter Customer Service Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Frank Newton was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Kathy Nguyen, Sr. Projects Manager, Water Conservation Program, was awarded the 2008 Alva T. Storey Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. This award was presented in recognition of outstanding service related to activities in support of the Association. Marvin Richards, Backflow Prevention Supervisor, Environmental Compliance, Water Protection Division, was honored with the 2008 Dick Clary Award by The Georgia Chapter of the American Backflow Prevention Association. This is one of the top awards presented by the GABPA and is bestowed upon an individual for recognition of exceptional achievements in the conduct of GABPA activities and a significant contribution to backflow prevention in Georgia. The recipient is an individual of outstanding character who strives to promote Backflow Prevention in order to protect one of our most precious natural resources ...WATER!

2007

Robert Brice, William J. Greene Award 2007 - Robert Brice, (Retired) Director of the Cobb County Water System, was the recipient of the 2007 William J. Greene Award presented by the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association. This award recognizes a person for outstanding service to AWWA as demonstrated by support of the Georgia Section. Mr. Brice was recognized for his service to GAWWA and his leadership in the water profession throughout his tenure as Director of the Water System.

Brian Jett was the Customer Service Specialist Award Finalist of the Year.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Judy Jones, Arthur Sidney Bedell Award 2007 - Judy Jones, Engineering & Records Division Manager, Engineering & Records Division, was awarded the 2007 Arthur Sidney Bedell Award by the Georgia Water Environment Federation, GWEF. This award is presented annually to a GWEF member to acknowledge extraordinary personal service to GWEF and GAWP. Judy served on the GWEF Executive Committee and chaired the GWEF Section in 2004. She currently serves on the GWEF Board of Trustees.

Jennifer McCoy, Georgia Conservancy Teaching Conservation Facilitator of the Year 2007 - Jennifer McCoy, Watershed-Stewardship Program Coordinator, Environmental Compliance, Water Protection Division, was awarded the Teaching Conservation Facilitator of the Year 2007 by the Georgia Conservancy. This award was presented in recognition of Jennifer's commitment to helping others develop awareness and skills that have resulted in informed decisions and responsible behavior in protecting Georgia's environment.

Kathy Nguyen, Sr. Project Manager, Water Conservation Program, was awarded the Emerging Leader Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP). This award was presented in recognition of a person who has been a member for five years or less for outstanding service to the GAWP. Kathy has been a very active member of the Georgia Water Wise Council, which is a section of GAWP, and has been serving as vice-chair of this Section.

Mary Smith was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Timmy Vaughn was awarded the GWEF Golden Manhole Society Award by the GAWP.  This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of  Collection System operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as, through service to GWEF and GAWP.

2006

Alicia Giddens, Biologist, Water Quality Laboratory, was awarded the 2006 Ira C. Kelley Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. The purpose of this award is to encourage and promote advancements and achievements in the environmental laboratory field. This award is presented to a person who demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in operating an environmental laboratory facility; performed outstanding service in instruction and training other laboratory analysts; contributed to the advancement of the laboratory field; and/or developed analytical techniques, procedures or instrumentation.

Lorraine Robinson was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Lisa Gonzalez was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Roy Tillman, Customer Service Award 2006 - Roy Tillman, Meter Repair Technician II, Meter Maintenance Department, was awarded the 2006 Customer Service Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, GAWP. Roy was selected and recognized for his extraordinary customer service. Nominations for this award were received from water and sewer utilities throughout the state of Georgia.

Laura Williams was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

2005

Jennifer Cooke-Rabig was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.    This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Russ Garner was the 4th Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Michael Harrelson was the 2nd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award Winner.  This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Ken Jacob was awarded the GWEF Golden Manhole Society Award by the GAWP.  This award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of Collection System operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as, through service to GWEF and GAWP. 

2003

Eddie Chastain, William D. Hartfield Award 2003 - Eddie Chastain, (Retired) Water Protection Division Manager, Water Protection Division, received the 2003 William D. Hartfield Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, GAWP. This award was presented annually to a member of the Georgia WEF Section for outstanding performance and professionalism in the operation of wastewater treatment plants.

Monica Fuller was the 3rd Quarter Customer Service Specialist Award winner.   This Award was presented quarterly and annually by the Cobb County Commissioners to staff who have been nominated and won the award for the high level of service that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Judy Jones, Alva T. Storey Award 2003 - Judy Jones, Engineering & Records Division Manager, Engineering & Records Division, received the 2003 Alva T. Storey Award by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. This award was presented in recognition of outstanding service related to activities in support of the Association. This award may be conferred annually upon a member of the Association who has demonstrated voluntary service in the form of Association Leadership and Administration, Membership Recruitment, Technical Contributions, Training, Encouragement and/or Support; a level of service above and beyond the call of duty which exemplifies the essence of GAWP success.
