Cobb County, through the Metro North GA Water Planning District, provides students with the opportunity to participate in two competitive creative programs: our middle school essay contest and our high school video contest.

In addition, we partner with Georgia Project WET to promote the Georgia River of Words poetry and art contest and Georgia Wildlife Resources Division to promote the Give Wildlife a Chance poster contest.

WaterSmart Program

the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority (CCMWA) in 2000. CCMWA is a regional public utility that provides wholesale potable water to customers in Cobb County, Paulding County, and parts of Cherokee, Fulton and Douglas Counties. It is the second-largest supplier of potable water in Georgia. The mission of waterSmart is to educate citizens throughout their service area about the value of water and the importance of indoor and outdoor water conservation and to encourage sustainable, year-round conservation, regardless of climate conditions.

In 2005 Cobb County Water System became a partner in the waterSmart program to ensure residents had access to conservation information and materials. The programs and materials created through the waterSmart education program are available to all of CCMWA’s wholesale customers and the citizens they serve.

The waterSmart program sponsors three contests each year to give students at all grade levels an opportunity to learn about water conservation and the value of water.
