Georgia’s Model Water Tower Competition challenges middle school students to design and build functioning water towers with recyclable materials. Each water tower must meet specific requirements related to its structural design, hydraulic efficiency, and use of materials. The competition is designed to provide information to youth about water resource engineering, infrastructure, water treatment, and water conservation in hopes that some will become future water professionals.

This year’s Cobb-Marietta Model Water Tower Competition featured the top three towers from six schools: East Cobb Middle, Barber Middle, Cooper Middle, Pine Mountain Middle, Marietta Middle, and Cornerstone Preparatory Academy. From a LEGO® palace, to a Minecraft computer, this year’s students went above and beyond in presenting creative designs for their water towers.

The Top 3 performing towers in this year’s competition came from Marietta Middle School and Cooper Middle School, with Marietta’s teams taking the 1st and 2nd place positions, and Cooper’s team taking 3rd.

Cobb County Water System and Marietta Water Authority were both honored and excited to host this year’s competition and look forward to seeing what creative water tower designs await in the future.  Click here to view the competition gallery.
