Cobb DOT’s staff includes engineers, project managers, and employees at all levels of government and the private sector working together to plan, build, improve, and protect Cobb’s transportation network.

In this article, we will focus on our project delivery team’s activities to improve the transportation network. When we talk about improvements, typically we mean projects. It could be a project to improve safety at an intersection, additional lanes to improve traffic flow, a new sidewalk or an entirely new roadway.

Our project delivery team wrestles with tough questions to find the best solution to Cobb’s transportation challenges, often reaching out to the public for input. Once the best solution is identified, engineers flesh out the details, obtain lots of permits and approvals, and develop final construction plans.

Construction activities vary from project to project, but all projects require management and oversight from Cobb DOT project managers to keep them on schedule and within budget. And the work doesn’t stop there. Once construction is complete, post-construction monitoring begins.

And behind the scenes, Cobb DOT specialists in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), communications, traffic management, finance and purchasing work tirelessly to support project efforts.

Thanks to Cobb DOT’s project delivery team for all they do to keep Cobb’s residents and visitors moving.
