The Board of Tax Assessors, an independent body appointed by the Board of Commissioners, is responsible for placing a fair and equalized value on all taxable property. The Board of Tax Assessors is responsible for handling Property Tax Exemption, Inventory Freeport Exemption, and Conservation Use applications.

Consists of five (5) members appointed by the Board of Commissioners for terms to run concurrent with that of the appointing commissioner with the exception of the BTA member nominated by the Commission Chair of the BOC.

Open Records Requests
Thank you for your interest in Cobb County Government Open Records. The Georgia Open Records Act and related subtitles of Georgia law authorize a personal inspection of public records at a reasonable time and place unless prohibited by a court order or otherwise exempted by law. However, no public official or personnel is required to prepare reports, summaries or compilations not in existence at the time of an Open Records Request.

Cobb 101 Citizens Government Academy
Cobb County staff is excited to announce the Cobb 101 Citizens Government Academy. This academy is a ten-week course designed to provide an in-depth look at the many functions of county government. It will be held at various government buildings throughout Cobb County, allowing participants to fully experience all Cobb has to offer. Participants are allow to miss only one class during the 10-week course.

Two convenient Government Service Centers exist to bring service closer to county residents. The South Cobb Center offers an innovative Business Office to allow the county's customers to transact business or receive information about services. Both centers also contain full service Tag Offices.

Who is required to pay Real Property Taxes and Personal Property Taxes?
All real and personal property taxes owed to Cobb County must be paid prior to the issuance or renewal of a business license. Questions regarding real property taxes or personal property taxes should be directed to the Tax Commissioner's Office and/or Tax Assessor’s Office.
