Obvara Firing (Baltic Raku) Workshop

Friday, 10/06/2023 - Friday, 10/06/2023
05:30pm - 08:30pm

Also called Baltic Raku, from where it originated in the 19th - 20th century, this alternative firing is now beginning to grow in popularity. Pottery is fired up to 1605 F, and then the piece of pottery is taken out of the kiln and quickly immersed into a fermented liquid, made with water, flour, yeast, and sugar.

Each participant will get to fire a minimum of 4 pieces, no larger than 10" in any direction. Pieces should be made using a good thermal shock clay such as Raku, Phoenix, Laguna "B" Mix or Little Loafers. All pieces should be bisque fired. Detailed Information will be provided after registration.

Workshop is weather-dependent, if we need to cancel for any reason full refunds will be given.

Supply fee of $5 should be brought to workshop to cover the cost of the supplies provided by the instructor.
