Cobb County Public Library’s March calendar features several Book Discussion options for adults. The sessions include author visits, a new Romance club, a walking book group and a Silent readers program.

The first meeting of the Romance Book Discussion group at North Cobb Regional Library, 3535 Old 41 Highway, Kennesaw 30144, is set for March 4 at 6 p.m. The new book club will meet the first Tuesday of each month. The March book is New York Times and US Today bestselling author Ashley Poston's A Novel Love Story.

Ashley Poston will visit the North Cobb library in person on Wednesday, March 19 at 5:30 p.m. for a conversation and book signing. Poston’s novels also include The Dead Romantics, Sounds Like Love, and The Seven Year Slip. Co-sponsors of the event include The Book Worm Bookstore and the Cobb Library Foundation. Registration is requested at cobbcat.org for people planning to purchase books by Poston at the event.

African American Authors Book Discussion Group meets 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday at the month at Stratton Library, 1100 Powder Springs Rd., Marietta 30064.  The March 10 session will feature a virtual visit with author Sadequa Johnson speaking on The House of Eve, Johnson’s novel set in the 1950s in the cities of Washington and Philadelphia.

The Silent Book Club at Gritters Library, 880 Shaw Park Rd., Marietta 30066, will meet Saturday, March 1 with participants arriving at 2 p.m., reading at 2:30 p.m. and socializing at 3:30 p.m. Unlike a regular book club, there is no assigned reading or discussion. There are about 1500 Silent Book Club chapters in more than 50 countries across the globe.  

East Cobb Walking Book Club will meet 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at the East Cobb Park, 3322 Roswell Road, Marietta 30068. Members gather near the park entrance to walk for exercise before a book discussion. The title for March 6 is West with Giraffes, historical fiction by Lynda Rutledge. The club is organized by East Cobb Library. The book selection may change if there are not enough available copies. To confirm the March title and for more information, call 770-509-2730. 

The Short Story Discussion Group meets at Sewell Mill Library, 2051 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta 30068, on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. The March 4 meeting will be on The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman. 

Let’s Talk Multicultural Book Club next meets 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Switzer Library, 266 Roswell St., Marietta 30060. The session will be a discussion on the historical novel Brooklyn by Irish writer Colm Toibin with guest speaker historian and retired Cobb librarian James Camp.

The Last Word Book Discussion program will meet simultaneously online and in the South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton, on Thursday, March 13, 4:30 pm. The March selection is The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club, a novel by Helen Simonson. For the link to join the program virtually, visit cobbcat.org.

The East Cobb Book Discussion Group meets the third Thursday of every month with the morning session at 11 a.m. and the afternoon session at 2 p.m. at East Cobb Library, 4880 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta 30068. The March 20 morning selection is the novel A Calamity of Souls by David Baldacci and the afternoon title is Emilia Hart’s novel Weyward. The book selections may change if copies are not available. West Cobb Fourth Monday Book Discussion will meet 6:30 p.m. March 24 at West Cobb Regional Library, 1750 Dennis Kemp Ln., Kennesaw 30152. The book group meets the fourth Monday of every month (holidays permitting) to discuss a wide range of literature. The March 24 selection is the novel The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn.

Science Fiction Book Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Switzer Library. The book for March 4 is Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler.

Page Turners Morning Book Group and Page Turners Afternoon Book Group next meet Wednesday, March 12 at Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta 30066, at 10:30 am and 1 p.m., to discuss novels. The Morning title is the novel Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt and the Afternoon selection is A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, the semi-autobiographic novel by Betty Smith. Evening at the Library Book Discussion meets 6 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta St., Powder Springs 30127. The March 24 novel is Someone Like You by novelist Karen Kingsbury is the title.

Around the Library Book Club meets 1 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at Kemp Memorial Library, 4029 Due West Road, Marietta 30064, for discussions on a different genre or theme. For the March 10 session, participants are asked to choose a book that is the first in a series.

The Shakespeare Reading Group meets at Switzer Library 2 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month to discuss works from the expansive canon of William Shakespeare, including drama, tragedy, sonnets and lyrics. Upcoming sessions include March 6 and March 20.

Afterthoughts Book Club meets at Switzer Library on the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. The March 12 selection is the novel James by Percival Everett.

Classics Book Club meets at Switzer Library on the third Wednesday of the month at 1 pm. The March 19 title is The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Leo Tolstoy.

South Cobb Regional Library’s Graphic Novel Book Club is a monthly virtual-only program which meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. through Google Meet. Woman, Life, Freedom by novelist Marjane Satrapi is the March 24 title. Visit cobbcat.org for more information.

Monday Night Murder Club meets 6 p.m. on the first Monday of the month to discuss Agatha Christie mysteries at North Cobb Regional Library. For March 3, The Murder on the Links is the story of the month. Visit cobbcat.org to sign-up for information on the club.

Booked for Lunch: Mystery Book Club meets at noon on the second Tuesday of each month at Powder Springs Library. The March 11 choice is One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware.

Who Dun-It: Suspense and Thriller Book Club meets 2 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Powder Springs Library. Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown is the March 20 book.

Sewell Mill Library’s Creative Studios: Fantasy Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The March 12 discussion will be on What the Woods Took, a young adult horror novel by Courtney Gould.

Sewell Mill Book Club meets each month on the third Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center. The title for March 19 is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, the autobiographical novel by Robert Pirsig.

Book Chat meets at Kemp Memorial Library on the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. The March 13 selection is Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler.

Sweetwater Valley Library's Book Club & Tea Party meets on the second Thursday each month at 4 p.m. The March 14 selection is Persuasion by Jane Austen.
