Veteran's History Project @ Switzer Library

The Cobb County Veteran's Connection and the Charles D.  Switzer Library present a discussion on the Veteran's History Project with guest speaker Susan Caolo, Ethnographer and oral historian.

Susan will share how her 2017-2018 assignment to set-up a veterans history project for Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park in Kennesaw, Georgia led to an ongoing commitment to honor veterans by recording their stories for their families and for future generations. Every story collected is preserved and accessible through the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in Washington D.C. Highlights of interviews with veterans from WWII to present will be shared to emphasize the important value and the personal fulfillment that comes with each interview.

Details about the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress and how veterans and non-veterans can participate will also be shared.

The Library of Congress Veteran's History Project collects, preserves and makes accessible the personal accounts of U.S. military veterans and Gold Star Families so future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand their service.

Susan Caolo is an applied anthropologist and ethnographer. Susan has been documenting life experiences of veterans and contributing these stories to the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in Washington DC while continuing freelance projects.
