General waste disposal is managed at the GFL Environmental. The Transfer Station is designed to handle waste traffic, annually managing over 150,000 transactions involving private and municipal haulers as well as the general public. The facility annually processes over 90,000 tons of solid waste in an environmentally friendly manner.

GFL Environmental also manages the county landfill.

Disposal Charges

  • For Cobb County residents, there is a minimum charge of $14.00 for the first 400 pounds of household solid waste & construction and demolition debris disposed of at the Transfer Station. Weight in excess of 400 pounds is charged at an additional rate of $0.03 per lb.
  • For non-residents, there is a minimum charge of $70.00 min per ton.

Valid Georgia driver's licenses are the only proof of residence accepted by GFL Environmental.

Additional charges will be applied for disposal of select items such as tires, propane tanks and other items designated by GFL Environmental due to security requirements and extensive handling and expenses required to process and ship these items.

Disposable Items

Aluminum Scrap

Scrap is accepted at the scrap metal pile at the rear of the building. This drop off point is after the inbound scale and there is a charge.

Antifreeze

Automotive antifreeze is accepted at the building at the back of the Transfer Station. Be careful not to pour antifreeze into the used oil container beside the Antifreeze Tank.

Carpet Padding

Carpet padding is accepted at the Transfer Station. Any Quantity. 

Construction Debris

Construction Debris such as plasterboard, shingles, carpet, lumber, pallets, etc. is accepted at the Transfer Station, however, at this time, these materials are not recycled. Concrete and asphalt demolition debris are recycled. There is the usual scale fee for disposal of these materials. 

Electronics

Electronics may be disposed of for a fee.

Let the scale operator know that you are bringing electronics to recycle. They will direct to a specific area on the tipping floor where you may leave the electronics. There is a nominal fee of $7.00 for any amount under 400 pounds. Televisions will not be recycled and are subject to regular tipping floor fees. 

Used Motor Oil

Used automotive motor oil is accepted at the building at the back of the Transfer Station. Maximum container size is 5 gallons. Oil is dumped into a filter at the top of the storage tank.

No 55 gallon drums are accepted.

Do not dump oil into the antifreeze tank beside the oil tank.

Refrigerators and Freon Containing Appliances

Appliances containing freon are accepted at the Transfer Station. Cobb County Sustainability, Waste and Beautification will extract the freon on-site. Please deposit the refrigerators at the signs by the scrap metal area.

Please do not dump refrigerators, air conditioners, etc into the scrap metal pile.

Tires

Tires for private passenger vehicles are accepted at the Transfer Station for recycling. GFL Environmental does accept tires still mounted on wheels but cannot take tires full of mud, gravel, etc. There is a per tire charge for tire disposal. 

Vegetative Waste Disposal

Yard debris such as grass clippings, limbs, bushes, or leaves should be taken to:

Garbage Collection

Unincorporated Cobb County

Cobb County Sustainability, Waste and Beautification Department does not provide trash collection services. A host of private companies provide these services. Please contact your local Homeowner’s Association, your neighbors, or search the internet for companies that are available to serve your area.
