Absentee Ballot FAQs

When is the last day to apply for an Absentee Ballot?

We recommend that you apply at least one (1) week prior to the election to allow time for processing the application and mailing the ballot. The last day for an absentee ballot to be issued is the Friday before the election, but a ballot issued on that date may not arrive through the mail in time to be voted and returned. Apply for your Absentee Ballot.

How can I return my Absentee Ballot?

You can affix a Forever stamp and return the ballot by U.S. Postal Service. You can use another carrier such as FedEx or UPS. You can hand-deliver the ballot to the Poll Manager at any Advance Voting location (not Election Day poll) or drop it in the drop box inside the Main Elections office.

How do I know my Absentee Ballot was counted?

By tracking your Absentee Ballot, you will see when the ballot is received by the Elections Office. Once the ballot has a received date, it has been accepted for counting. All ballots received by 7PM EST on Election Day will be counted. Make sure that you have signed the oath on the outer envelope so your ballot can be counted.

How do I track my Absentee Application or Absentee Ballot?

There are two (2) websites where voters can track their application and ballot:

*Ballottrax where you will register to receive update notifications by text or email
*My Voter Page  where you can login and click on absentee ballot status to see the latest status

Does my signature have to match my registration? What if it has changed over the years?

You must sign the outer envelope containing the Oath of Elector. We will review that signature against the one on your Absentee Ballot Application and on your Voter Registration record. We are looking for similarities and understand that signatures change over time. If we think there is a mismatch, you will be contacted and given an opportunity to cure the issue so your ballot can be counted.

What if I decide I want to vote in-person after I’ve applied for an Absentee Ballot?

You will have to cancel your Absentee Ballot before you can vote in-person. There are instructions for cancelling your Absentee Ballot below.

Alternatively, you can bring the ballot to the Advance Voting or Election Day polling location and surrender it to the Poll Manager for cancelling. If you don’t have your ballot with you when you arrive at the poll on Election Day, you will need to complete an Affidavit and the Poll Workers will call the office to have the ballot cancelled.

Cancel Your Ballot

If you desire to cancel your Absentee Ballot, please print and complete the Affidavit of Cancelled Absentee Ballot. Please note, once ballot has been received by the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration Office, it can no longer be cancelled.

Complete the form filling out the appropriate fields and confirming a physical signature is provided. An electronic/typed signature will not be accepted.
