PUBLIC REVIEW MEETING NOTICE - PRO Housing Draft Application

PUBLIC REVIEW MEETING NOTICE

Cobb County intends to apply for HUD’s The Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) grant. This grant will assist in empowering the County to actively take steps to remove barriers to affordable housing and seeks to increase housing production and lower housing costs for families over the long term.

A 15-day public comment period commences on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 and concludes on Thursday, October 26, 2023. A draft of the County’s PRO Housing Application can be viewed at the link below:

2023 Grant Informational Workshops

The 2023 Grant Informational Workshops, hosted by the Cobb County CDBG Program Office, aim to give an overview of the funding types available from the County. The workshops will provide a step-by-step explanation of the grant process and its functioning. Nonprofits and public agencies interested in learning about the County's federal grant funding programs are highly encouraged to participate.

Informational Flyer

Annual Allocation of Funding
HUD provides annual grants on a formula basis to Cobb County to support community development and housing activities for low and moderate-income households. Generally, in February of each year through the beginning of April, applications are accepted from non-profit organizations.  Application workshops are held during the grant application period for new applicants and existing subrecipients to provide detailed information about the grant programs and application process.

Feb - March, 2019: PY2020 Grant Application Workshops

The Cobb County CDBG Program Office is soliciting Grant Program Year 2020 Applications for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Programs.  Applications will be accepted from Friday, February 1, 2019 through Friday, April 5, 2019.  Grant applications should be submitted in-person to the CDBG Program Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019

Public Facility Needs Assessment Meeting

Cobb County is requesting feedback from residents, service providers, business owners, and other interested parties to assess the use of a County – owned facility located at 1861 Teasley Drive, Smyrna, GA 30080. 

The interested parties can submit feedback at the County’s Public Facility Needs Assessment Meeting that will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Aline Wolfe Recreation Center located at 884 Church Street, Smyrna, GA 30080.

The survey results will be tabulated and considered in an effort to structure the application process towards eligible non-profit organizations.  This facility was previously funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.  As such, all project and program services must benefit 51% low-to-moderate income persons as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Public Comments Due By: Friday, March 15, 2019 – 5:00 P.M

A Public Review Meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Cobb County Board of Commissioners room located at 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta, Georgia to receive comments on Cobb County’s PY2018 Consolidated Annual Performance & Evaluation Report [CAPER] for the time period of January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD] requires Cobb County to submit an annual report describing its performance using federal, state, local, and private resources to meet priorities and objectives set forth in the County’s PY2016 - 2020 Consolidated Plan.  This report provides a review of activities carried out under the Community Development Block Grant [CDBG], Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program to address the needs of the low and moderate income citizens, the homeless, the elderly and the mentally and/or physically disabled persons in Cobb County.

April 10, 2019: Fiscal Year 2019 Justice Assistance Grant Application Workshop

The Cobb County CDBG Program Office will be hosting a Grant Application Workshop on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Charles D. Switzer Public Library located at 266 Roswell Street, Marietta, GA 30060 for nonprofit organizations, local government departments and related law enforcement entities who are interested in applying for 2019 JAG funding.

The JAG Program provides states, tribes, and local governments with critical funding necessary to support a range of program areas including law enforcement, prosecution and court programs, prevention and education programs, corrections and community corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, crime victim and witness initiatives, and planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs.

April 10, 2019: Phase 36 Emergency Food & Shelter Program Grant Application Workshop

The Cobb County CDBG Program Office will be hosting a Grant Application Workshop on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. at the Charles D. Switzer Public Library located at 266 Roswell Street, Marietta, GA 30060 for non-profit organizations for Phase 36 EFSP Grant Application Cycle.  Interested non-profit organizations should have at least 2-years experience directly related to the proposed project.

The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP) is a Federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and has been entrusted through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 1987. April 25, 2019: PY2019 Annual Action Plan Draft Now Available

Cobb County is an entitlement community eligible to receive direct assistance under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Cobb County is also a participating jurisdiction under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and serves as the lead agency of the Georgia Urban County Consortia (GUCC), which includes Cobb County and the City of Roswell.  The County is also a formula grantee under the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).  Funds for these programs must be expended within the County and GUCC areas for participants who meet applicable eligibility criteria as outlined by program regulations.
