(Marietta, Ga. — Dec. 10, 2024) — Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. announces that Andrea Latrice McCord, 36, pled guilty to kidnapping a child under 14. Superior Court Senior Judge G. Grant Brantley sentenced McCord to five years to be served in prison without the possibility of parole and 15 years on probation.

In April 2021, Andrea McCord abducted her then-four-year-old daughter from the home of her father, James Williams, without custody rights. McCord fled with her boyfriend, Custodio Guerra, and was later located with her daughter in Mexico following a two-year search by local and federal authorities.

James Williams reported his daughter missing after McCord left his home with their daughter. The case was investigated by the Smyrna Police Department in collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the U.S. Marshals.

“This sentence reflects the seriousness of this crime and its lasting impact on the victim and her family. The safety and well-being of children must always be our top priority, and we are grateful for the tireless efforts of all those involved in bringing justice to this case,” said District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr.

Deputy Chief District Attorney Lindsay Raynor prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, while McCord represented herself during the proceedings.
