In order to check an organization to see if it is considered a 501(c)3, you can visit the Georgia Secretary of State website at www.sos.ga.gov (Go to: Business Search and type the name of the business) or www.guidestar.org. These websites will also advise if the organization has an active status and in compliance with the law. City and county governments are considered non-profit organizations.
Where can you do community service?
There are many available places. Community Service is often done near the area where you live, so your own community reaps the benefits of your work. Ask yourself: Which places in my community are important to me?
