Register for fun environmental workshops and activities

The Watershed Stewardship Program promotes respect for our community by educating the community on the connection between behavior and water quality. There are several upcoming events and activities:


•    Lunch and Learn: Rain Gardens
Noon-12:45 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18
Cobb Water Quality Lab, 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta
Learn the basics of developing a rain garden for a residential landscape.


•    Homeschool Science Series: Introduction to Stream Animals
1-2:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25
Cobb Water Quality Lab, 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta
Ages 3 and older. Participants will learn about commonly sighted animals living in stream habitats and make a wildlife field guide.


•    Adopt-A-Stream: Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Workshop
10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26
Cobb Water Quality Lab, 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta
Learn how to sample the biological inhabitants of a stream. The workshop will focus on collection techniques, identification and data interpretation.


•    Adopt-A-Stream: Chemical Monitoring Workshop
6:30-9 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6
Learn how to monitor pH, oxygen and conductivity levels in streams. The workshop will focus on proper collection, analysis of water samples and interpretation of results.


•    Homeschool Science Series: Is This Stream Healthy?
1-2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15
Cobb Water Quality Lab, 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta
Ages 10 and older. Participants will learn how to perform a basic stream health assessment and take a journey through the water cycle. They will also make beaded bracelets to record their water pathway.
