Public Safety Appreciation Week Begins With Honors
October 5th kicked off the 20th annual Public Safety Appreciation Week with a special award program at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, hosted by the Cobb Chamber.
Cobb County Sheriff's Deputy Tyrone Reid, a 23-year veteran of the office, was honored as Public Safety Employee of the Year. Reid was credited with heroic off-duty actions that involved the apprehension of a suspect at the scene of an Atlanta killing in March.
Cobb County Police Officers Quinius Lyles and Andrew Abernathy were each presented with the Medal of Valor for their actions during a double shooting and vehicle chase in December, which also led to the arrest of a suspect.
