All Cobb County Government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 21, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. You and your family are invited to join our annual celebration at Turner Chapel AME Church. This year's event will start at 10 a.m. and feature emcee WSB-TV anchor Fred Blankenship, entertainment and the annual presentation of the "Living the Dream" award to community members who demonstrates the ideals King exemplified. This celebration is hosted by Cobb County Government and the Cobb County branch of the NAACP. The church is located at 492 North Marietta Parkway NE, Marietta.

The final audition for event entertainment will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at Jennie T. Anderson Theatre. Dance, spoken word, vocal and musical performances are welcome, but they are limited to three minutes and should relate to Dr. King's message. Anderson Theatre is located in the Cobb Civic Center, 548 S. Marietta Parkway, Marietta.
