Community comes together to celebrate Dr. King; watch program online

On Monday, hundreds of residents and dignitaries gathered to honor the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This annual celebration is hosted by Cobb County Government and the Cobb branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The event included entertainment focused on conveying Dr. King's lifelong dedication to racial equality and justice for all Americans. Three worthy residents were also recognized with the 2019 Living the Dream Award, which honors community members who demonstrate leadership and commitment to making our county more diverse and inclusive. Nic and Princess Starr (pictured in group photo above) are the founders of the Young Voices United Performing Arts Academy. The organization's mission is to make a difference in the lives of our youth so they can make a difference in our world. Sharon Hill (pictured to the right) was also honored with the Living the Dream Award for her volunteerism and important work in our community.
