Cobb's Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Tuesday night to appoint Bill Rowling as the next County Attorney.

In a legal career spanning more than 30 years, Mr. Rowling has served in both government service and private
practice. During his 18 years of employment with the County Attorney's Office, Mr. Rowling has
distinguished himself and navigated all aspects of public sector law, including constitutional issues,
governmental transparency, ethics, zoning, and codification of laws.

For the past six years, he has served in a managerial role where duties have included staff selection, management, and development. Prior to joining the County Attorney's Office in 2001, Mr. Rowling worked as an Assistant Solicitor for Cobb County and with the law firm of Holberg and Weaver. This recommendation is further based upon a succession plan, as directed by the Board of Commissioners.

This appointment implements a succession plan and will allow for a smooth transition of duties of the County Attorney.   Rowling will replace Deborah Dance who will retire in August.
