2021 Code Amendments Package Available - Hearings Set
Cobb Commissioners review the county code each year and make amendments as necessary. The 2021 Code Amendment package is now available.
During this Tuesday’s work session, staff will introduce proposed changes to the County Code that include but are not limited to the following actions:
- Chapter 6 – Alcoholic Beverages
Modify the county alcohol code to allow permits to be paid with a credit card, to permit licensed retailers to hold a weekly tasting event, and to permit delivery of alcohol sold to and purchased by an individual for personal use as provided by state law.
- Chapter 18 – Building Regulations
Streamline appointment of persons to the Board of Adjustment and Appeals, address conflict of interest on the board and its process for hearing appeals.
- Chapter 22 – Cable Communications
Remove the Cable Communications Code.
- Chapter 50 - Environment
Clean up text in the county code pertaining to Land Disturbance Activities;
Modify stormwater management requirements for new development and redevelopment ;
Limit noise of landscaping equipment between 7a and 9p.
- Chapter 54 – Fire prevention and Protection
Align County fire code to the International Fire Standards;
Establish fee schedules for special fire services and alarm system resets;
Requirements for automatic external defibrillator devices.
- Chapter 66 – Historic Preservation
Clarify standards for modifying structures in historic preservation areas.
- Chapter 78 – Licenses, Permits, and Businesses
Establish All-Star event zones to address temporary marketing and advertisement activities.
- Chapter 106 – Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Places
Modify county code pertaining to utilities on rights-of-way to comply with standards set by the State Department of Transportation.
- Chapter 110 – Subdivisions
Modify the county’s plat and subdivision approval procedure.
- Chapter 118 – Traffic and Vehicles
Authorize the fire official to require and/or modify fire lanes and to require signage for the same.
- Chapter 122 – Utilities
Establish penalties for violations of this Chapter;
Establish the possibility of variance to requirements for wastewater lift stations by the department director in certain situations.
- Chapter 134 – Zoning
Align accessory structure requirements of conservation subdivisions with that of Planned Residential Developments;
End acceptance of Redevelopment Overlay District applications for zoning;
Codify Austell Road Design Guidelines so new or modified development must comply;
Add additional prohibited signs;
Modify size and location of signs on non-residential property.
