National Community Development Week, established in 1986, was created to spotlight the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program through grassroots advocacy—especially during a time of congressional scrutiny. Since then, the celebration has grown to include the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program, recognizing its vital role in supporting affordable housing efforts across the nation.
