District Attorney's Office presented with proclamation

The Board of Commissioners presents the Cobb District Attorney's office with a proclamation declaring Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Human Trafficking is a crime that harms the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. After passing the Trafficking Victims Protection Act 25 years ago, an estimated 27.6 million people are still subjected to human trafficking globally, with cases reported in every U.S. state and territory.

We, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month, reaffirming our commitment to raising awareness, improving education, providing resources, and building diverse public-private partnerships to support a more coordinated and comprehensive response.

Mt. Paran Christian Competition Cheer Team receives certificates of achievement

For Mount Paran Christian’s competition cheer team, the number 13 represents triumph. In November, the Eagles secured their 13th consecutive state championship, extending their record-breaking streak. This remarkable achievement was marked with certificates presented to the team at the Board of Commissioners Meeting on Jan. 25.

It is the longest championship run in Cobb County history.

Congratulations to Coach Henderson and Coach Ray on this incredible accomplishment.

The championship team included freshmen Anise Sindone, Jada Johnson, and Charlotte Owens; sophomores Lila Schmitz, Zurie Milbrett, Kamryn Kauffman, and Caroline Robertson; juniors Paisley Everett, Ashley Kayal, Emory Abernathy, and Sydney Ojibway; and seniors Abby Cofield, AK McKenzie, Joy Sadler, Kyndal Abernathy, and Taylor Osterland.
