![]() We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Wishes Fulfilled 2003 We are delighted to have you share the power of a wish. Please continue to help us grant wishes – your contribution makes a big difference in the lives of these children. Here are the stories of children you helped in 2003:
Aaron:
Aaron is a four year old little boy from Acworth, GA who has been diagnosed with a life threatening medical condition. Aaron’s grandmother referred him to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the wish granting process quickly began. As soon as volunteers visited his home, they were convinced that Aaron’s wish was to go to Disney World. Aaron was adamant about Disney World because he wanted to meet Mickey Mouse and Goofy. Aaron’s wish came true on December 1, 2004 when he and his family traveled to Disney World for the week. Everyone had a wonderful time. Aaron smiled from ear to ear when he met his favorite characters. His wish was a complete success! Caroline: Caroline was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation when she was seventeen years old. However, it took a great deal of researching and planning before Caroline could decide on her wish. At nineteen, Caroline finally announced that she would like to go on a cruise to the Bermuda Islands. On July 27, 2003, her wish was granted. Caroline and her family boarded the Royal Caribbean Nordic Empress ship and set sail on a seven night cruise. Caroline visited both the east and west side of Kings Warf Island where she was able to do lots of shore excursions. She then traveled to Hamilton Island and also got to spend two whole days at sea exploring the top of the line cruise ship. Her wish was successfully granted and well worth the wait! William: William is a nine year old boy from Canton, GA who loves the television show ZOOM. When volunteers visited William for the first time, they knew immediately that his wish was to travel to Boston to see a taping of his favorite show. William told the Make-A-Wish Foundation that he would really like to go behind the scenes of ZOOM to meet the cast members and to find out exactly how the show is prepared for television. On July 27, 2003, William and his family flew to Boston to attend a taping of ZOOM. William was pleasantly surprised when he arrived on his wish day and learned that he was going to spend the entire day with the cast of ZOOM. William met everyone on the show, toured the set, ate lunch with the cast members, watched a taping of the show, and even was allowed to play some of the “ZOOM” games with the kids on the show. James “Dare”: At sixteen years old, Dare, was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation after being diagnosed with a life threatening medical condition. Dare went back and forth between more than one wish because he knew it was a big decision. He wanted his wish to be something he would remember forever. At eighteen years old, as Dare was preparing to go to college, he finally decided that he would like to wish for a laptop computer to help him practice his animation techniques. Dare wants to be an animator one day and knew that this wish would help him to prepare. On September 11, 2003, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Dare’s wish, complete with a brand new laptop computer, printer, three animation software packages, and other related accessories. In addition, the Foundation coordinated a day for Dare to visit Cartoon Network and spend some time with the animators there. Dare toured the Network, practiced some animation, and spent some time with the top animators in the state. |
