Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan/Design Guidelines
In February of 2010, the Board of Commissioner authorized the Community Development Agency to develop the Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan as a result of growing concerns for this major commercial and residential corridor. Read the plan here

Note from the Commissioner:
Cobb County officials have worked to minimize the impact of the bridge replacement at Paper Mill Road over Sope Creek. We understand how painful this traffic change is for the area, but replacing the old bridge has become critical. Construction began after the end of the school year in order to reduce the amount of traffic that has to be rerouted. The construction is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 25, but there are financial incentives for the contractor to finish early. To expedite this, the Board of Commissioners has approved extended work hours that run until 11 p.m. Paper Mill Road Bridge
We are doing everything to help drivers make it through this temporary transition. The Cobb Department of Transportation has adjusted signal timing at the following intersections to ease delays, Indian Hills Parkway at Lower Roswell Road, Johnson Ferry Road at Lower Roswell Road and Paper Mill Road at Terrell Mill Road. Technicians are visiting these intersections weekly to fine tune their adjustments as traffic patterns shift. We thank you for your patience and will continue to work to alleviate delays.

Safety Concerns at Johnson Ferry Road and Woodlawn Drive Intersection
Many of our citizens are concerned about the safety of making a left hand turn from Johnson Ferry Road onto Woodlawn Drive. After compiling safety data and information from police reports the Cobb County Department of Transportation has drafted several options for consideration. DOT staff and I are meeting early next week to review the options and determine the best measures to put in place to assure the safety of Cobb County drivers.

Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement
Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek Bridge will be closed through Oct. 25. sope creek
On Tuesday, May 28, Paper Mill Road will be closed for the summer to replace the bridge over Sope Creek. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to the National Park Service trails. This project will result in closing Paper Mill Road at the bridge for approximately four months. A signed detour route (as shown in image) will be provided during construction.

District 2 Commissioner Ott was recently featured on TV23 and he talked at length about the county's Sunny Award and Cobb's commitment to open government
